Dr. Abdalla Hamdok Calls for Immediate Ceasefire and International Action to End Sudan’s Crisis

Former Sudanese Prime Minister, Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, has issued a heartfelt plea to both General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan of the Sudanese Armed Forces and Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) of the Rapid Support Forces. His message, delivered on the occasion of the new year, stressed the urgent need to halt hostilities and prioritize the well-being of the Sudanese people.

Hamdok addressed both sides of the conflict as a Sudanese citizen driven by the genuine interests of his nation. He emphasized that the continuation of war serves no purpose and only deepens the suffering of millions. In his statement, he reiterated his long-standing belief that the war, which began on April 15, has no winners and that the true victory lies in listening to the voice of reason and seeking peaceful solutions.

Dr. Hamdok highlighted the critical importance of an immediate ceasefire, calling for both parties to end the violence and focus on alleviating the immense suffering of the Sudanese people. He described the ongoing conflict as a tragedy that has inflicted unimaginable hardship on innocent civilians and left the nation in a state of turmoil.

Furthermore, the former prime minister urged the international and regional communities to take decisive action in pushing for a peaceful resolution to the crisis. He underscored the need for robust and urgent international intervention, stating that only through collective global effort can the plight of millions of Sudanese citizens be addressed effectively.

Dr. Hamdok’s message serves as a powerful reminder that the road to peace in Sudan requires genuine commitment, dialogue, and cooperation. His call for reason and humanity resonates not only with Sudanese citizens but also with the international community, urging all stakeholders to act swiftly to bring an end to the war and restore stability to Sudan.

As the nation continues to grapple with the devastating effects of war, Dr. Hamdok’s vision of peace stands as a beacon of hope for a better future for Sudan and its people.
