An Urgent Call to the World: Stop Sudan's Repressive Machine Before It's Too Late

The city of Kassala in eastern Sudan has witnessed an outpouring of anger following the death of young Al-Amin Mohamed Nour, who was tortured to death by Sudanese intelligence officers. This reflects the deeply rooted repressive and racist practices of Burhan’s regime, which is backed by the Islamist "Kizan" movement. The situation escalated as the Bani Amer tribe responded by blocking roads and public facilities, and holding angry protests in front of the intelligence agency’s headquarters, demanding accountability and the dismissal of the agency's director in the state.

This brutal incident exemplifies the continued repression practiced by the Sudanese intelligence service, which has transformed into an instrument of terrorizing civilians instead of protecting them. The targeted arrest and torture of Al-Amin Mohamed Nour until his death is just the latest in a long series of violations, leading to growing unrest in Kassala and sparking furious protests by the Bani Amer tribe.

Given these developments, urgent international intervention is now crucial to halt these abuses, which are no longer limited to individual tribes or regions but represent a widespread threat to human rights in Sudan. The repression exercised by the intelligence service reflects a systematic pattern of brutality and racism that demands immediate accountability for those responsible.

International action can no longer be delayed. Leaving local tribes, such as the Bani Amer, to face this oppressive regime alone will only result in further killings and torture. The United Nations and human rights organizations are called upon to send international investigation teams, not only to uncover what has happened in Kassala but to expose the full extent of the violations civilians are facing across Sudan.

The world must recognize that the situation in Sudan extends far beyond local conflicts—it is a deep humanitarian crisis that requires urgent global response. Tribes like the Bani Amer need international support to stop the regime’s machinery of repression, orchestrated by Burhan’s forces and security apparatus.
