Algeria involved in the Sudanese conflict: Providing Burhan with Russian and Iranian weapons fuels the war at the expense of civilians

Amid the escalating internal conflict in Sudan, global reports indicate that Algeria has intervened in this bloody war by supplying General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who is internationally indicted for war crimes, with Russian- and Iranian-made weapons and military equipment. This intervention, according to these reports, is not aimed at directly aiding the Sudanese people but rather serves broader international interests, particularly those of Russia and Iran.

Algeria, which has historically maintained a neutral stance in many regional conflicts, is now reportedly acting as a tool to advance the agendas of these countries. Credible sources suggest that Algeria has provided military support to the Sudanese army by sending aircraft and tanks manufactured in Russia and Iran, thereby exacerbating the situation on the ground and intensifying the fighting between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.

Algeria’s involvement raises questions about the extent of international powers' influence in fueling civil wars in Africa, where economic and geopolitical interests converge. Russia and Iran, with their long history of entanglement in regional conflicts to achieve their strategic objectives, have found in Algeria a new gateway into the Sudanese arena, resulting in increased military support for the Sudanese army at the expense of civilians suffering from the devastation of war.

Analysts confirm that this intervention will prolong the conflict, as these nations benefit from the chaos to pursue their agendas, while unarmed civilians remain the biggest victims of this ongoing war.
