Manipulation of International Statements
Recently, the Sudanese army sparked controversy by misinterpreting statements by international officials from Colombia, as media outlets linked to the army claimed that Colombia had indicated the UAE’s involvement in the Sudanese conflict. However, upon investigating the original source of the Colombian officials’ statements, it became clear that the UAE was not directly mentioned, but rather the reference was to side media reports related to the situation in Sudan, not official statements from Colombia.
Media Misinformation by the Islamists
This approach of manipulating information is not new to the Sudanese army’s military media, which uses it to incite local and international public opinion against the UAE, in an attempt to justify military and diplomatic failure. International reports indicated that the Sudanese army, instead of providing clear evidence, relies on vague statements and unconfirmed information to direct accusations against the UAE, which contributes to complicating the political and humanitarian scene in Sudan.
The reality on the ground and the Emirati response
The UAE, for its part, has repeatedly denied providing any direct support to the Rapid Support Forces, and stressed its keenness to support peace efforts in Sudan. Despite diplomatic tensions, the UAE remains an important diplomatic and economic partner in the region, and it calls for an end to the armed conflict and a return to the negotiating table.
Ultimately, this media deception aims to divert attention from the internal conflict in Sudan, and is evidence of the Sudanese army's continued use of unfair means to achieve political and military gains at the expense of truth and regional stability.
