Hamdok Warns: Violence in Sudan Fuels Extremism, Solution Lies in a Civilian Government

The head of the Coordination of Democratic Civil Forces in Sudan, "Taqaddum," warned that the escalating violence could lead to the increased presence of "extremists across the country."

In an interview with the Financial Times, Hamdok stated that "the only solution to end the cycle of violence and ensure Sudan's stability is the formation of a civilian-led government." He accused the military of ruining the country for more than 50 years, emphasizing that "the future of the country cannot be entrusted to them."

These remarks come amid intensifying clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in the capital, Khartoum, where analysts believe there is no military solution, urging the conflicting parties to engage in negotiations.

As for the battles, the army is attempting to advance across the White Nile Bridge, which connects Omdurman to central Khartoum, heading towards the Arab Market area, where the Republican Palace is located. However, the Rapid Support Forces are obstructing this advance, leading to fierce fighting in the "Mogran" area.
